Daniel Akol Dau
Daniel is a writer and cartoonist from South Sudan; he grew up in Sudan. He is pursuing a degree in IT from the University of Cavendish (Uganda) in its Juba campus. Daniel writes and draws cartoons to reflect his or other people’s emotions. His work has been published in newspapers but gotten him in trouble with the authorities for his harsh criticism. Daniel found solace in writing short stories in Arabic and publishing them in newspapers and online, and managed to garner a following for his sharp writings. His aim is to show South Sudan’s forgotten culture with folk tales and to showcase the other image of South Sudan- one that has not been created by the politicians. He dreams of a united South Sudan without any tribalism and with positive relations with border nations.
